DAIMON (Detection of Abandonned Items and Management of their OwNers) ambitions to create a revolutionary solution to detect and manage unattended item incidents, one of the most common source of significant disruptions and a potential security threats in public spaces such as transportation hubs. Due to the potentially dangerous consequences of such an event and its significant impact on both the continuity and quality of the service to the citizens, detecting and effectively managing unattended items is a priority for Public Transport Operators (PTOs) and other critical infrastructures. DAIMON is part of the PREVENT PCP project that has received funding from the European Union' s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program".
DAIMON is a collaborative project performed by the DAIMON consortium, an entity led by CS GROUP France, and involving CERTH and XXII Group.
CS GROUP is a large European leading provider of high technology systems for the surveillance and protection of public spaces and critical infrastructures. Its 2000 employee size and agile working methodologies enable CS to offer the stability, robustness, and resilience of a large company along with the flexibility and responsiveness of an SME. CS has many years of experience in Innovation and EC funded project management, as well as product creation and commercialisation. It is worth to note that most of its products in the field of security (e.g., Crimson, Boreades, VirtualGeo, INSCAPE…) result from European R&D projects. The company’s Defence and Security Unit will develop the crisis management layer of the DAIMON system that it will extend so that it will also contribute to the enhancement of the AI video analysis capabilities. This unit will be assisted in DAIMON by both the Cybersecurity Business Unit and the Transport Unit of CS.
CERTH, a world-class research centre in the domain of Artificial Intelligence based video analysis, involves both its Visual Analytics and Visual Computing labs that produced major innovations in the field of video analysis for security applications.
XXII, a French leading SME in AI-based video analysis that develops the award winning XXIICore visual analytics platform for the processing of video streams and their exploitation using Artificial Intelligence technologies.
PREVENT PCP (https://prevent-pcp.eu) is a Pre-Commercial Procurement Programme funded by the European Commission to stimulate innovation, enabling its members to steer the development of cost-effective solutions for the protection of public spaces with a particular focus on the timely automatic detection of potentially dangerous unattended items, identification and tracking of perpetrators, and advanced crisis management system.
PREVENT PCP has emitted a call for tender in 2022 and selected the DAIMON consortium as one of the six awarded solutions, to develop an effective solution to address these challengieng issues. Besides contributing to the funding of these solutions, PREVENT PCP aims are to:
PREVENT PCP involves several of the European leading Public Transport Operators including SNCF (FR), RATP (FR), Metropolita de Barcelona (ES), Metropolitano de Lisboa (PT), Ferrovie Nord (IT), AMT (IT), KTEL Ioannina (GR), ProRail (NL), Union Internationale des transports Publics (BE).
State-of-the-art AI-powered detection of unattended items (e.g., luggage, boxes, bags) in public spaces, including Public Transport Infrastructures, exploiting video surveillance cameras.
Advanced management of alerts, incidents, and crisis offering smart assistance to the operator and to decision-making

Guaranteeing the protection of privacy and personal data is a constant concernt of DAIMON that places ethics at the heart of its activity. The project works under the close scrunity of data protection officer and national authorities to develop a system that complies with the highest ethical and security standards.
DAIMON will break new ground by combining the most advanced innovations in Artificial Intelligence based video analytics with a novel crisis management system that will improve further detection, identification, and tracking performances thanks to its Digital Twin, smart orchestration, and mobility support capabilities.
For this purpose, DAIMON will build on two well-known and widely adopted state-of-the-art products that it will combine and extend:
XXII’s XXIICORE (http://xxii.fr) is an award-winning AI-powered real-time video analysis system that offers unique interoperability with existing Video Management Systems (VMS) and state-of-the-art performance on object detection, classification, and tracking. XXIICORE is deployed in numerous cities and criticla infrastructure across Europe to enhance the security of these sites.
CS GROUP’s Crimson (http://crimson.eu) is a widely adopted supervision and crisis management system offering a ground-breaking digital twin based solution for the surveillan ce and protection of sites and public spaces, and the management of incidents interoperating with a multitude of legacy and third-party systems such as sensors, effectors, C2s, hypervision, VMS...
